Iguazu Falls Can Be Visited in One Day, but it requires proper planning to make the most of your time there. Additionally, it depends on when you arrive at the destination and when you need to leave.
Let’s look at the suggestions for each situation:

Arriving and Leaving on the Same Day
Visiting Iguazu Falls by arriving and leaving the same day is possible, although it almost obligatorily requires private services to coordinate the visit as best as possible.
For this, the most important thing is to take the earliest flights in the morning and the latest flights back. The more time you have between flights, the more time you’ll have to visit.
In this sense, the best destinations for this are usually Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), as they have more flight availability.
Additionally, the country (Argentina or Brazil) from which you take your flight to Iguazu Falls will also determine which park you will visit. For example, if you travel from Buenos Aires, you will visit the Argentine park.

Crossing to the other country to visit the opposite park is not recommended, as it wastes a lot of time with border processing and transfers (possibly taking about 3 hours in total, time you could use to visit the park).
Remember to bring the least amount of luggage, ideally just a backpack with the basics: passports, a change of clothes in case you get wet, and minimal personal items. You can purchase drinks and food inside the parks.
Finally, our recommendation is to hire a travel agent’s service who can manage all the arrangements, as they can find the best flight and arrange private services and transfers to make the most of your short time at Iguazu Falls.

- Price from: 290 USD
- Full Day
- Traditional

Staying One Night, Arriving Early the First Day and Leaving Late the Next
In this case, the second day is reserved for the visit to the Argentine side, as it is the larger park and requires more time.

On the day you arrive at Iguazu Falls, you should take advantage of the shorter Brazilian park visit.
Staying One Night, Arriving Late the First Day and Leaving Late the Next
In this case, you have two options:
- The day after arrival, visit the Argentine park, since it is the longest and has the most to see.
- Squeeze both sides of the park into one day, this is possible provided you have a flight departing at 7 or 8 pm. In this case, we recommend a private tour that covers both sides in one day, as the guide will make the best use of your time and you will have a vehicle at your disposal, reducing waiting times.
Staying One Night, Arriving Early the First Day and Leaving Early the Next
For this situation, it’s recommended to visit the Argentine side on the day you arrive, to make the best use of your time.
The next day, you’re unlikely to have time to visit the Brazilian side, but if your flight is around 2 pm and departs from Foz do Iguazú, it’s possible if you enter the park as soon as it opens; in this case, we recommend acquiring private transfers to avoid waiting times.
Transfers Airport-Hotel-Airport in Foz do Iguazu
- Price from: 13 USD
- 1hs to 4hs
- Transfers
Arrange the necessary transfers for the arrival and departure time in Foz do Iguazu (Brazil).
If you are staying in Foz do Iguazú, it is likely you can take an even earlier flight and visit the Brazilian park, saving the time required to cross the border.
Staying One Night, Arriving Late the First Day and Leaving Early the Next
This would be the worst case scenario for visiting Iguazu Falls, as it leaves very little time to visit the parks.
The best you can do is try to visit the parks in the countries where you arrive and depart.
For example, say you arrive at Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) around 2 or 3 pm, this would give you time to visit at least one circuit on the Argentine side. And if you’re staying in Foz do Iguazú and your flight leaves around 1 pm, it’s possible to visit the Brazilian side as early as possible and head to the airport.
If you arrive and depart from the same city (Puerto Iguazú or Foz do Iguazú), it would be impossible to visit the opposite side of the park, so it is better to make the most of the time available to visit the side of the city you are visiting.
