From the 12th to the 18th of August, a very special event will take place in the city of El Calafate: the first winter swimming competition.

The event, which will start the 2024 – 2025 season of open-water swimming in icy waters without a wetsuit, will be held on Lake Argentino, facing the city of Santa Cruz, and in the Los Glaciares National Park.

In addition to expecting national athletes, many swimmers from other countries are expected to attend, as this is a meet organized by the International Winter Swimming Association, the most important body in this sport and the one in charge of the winter swimming world cup.
