El Calafate Gets Ready for the Annular Solar Eclipse

The province of Santa Cruz will have the privilege of witnessing the last eclipse of the year.

This Wednesday, October 2nd, the annular solar eclipse will occur—an astronomical phenomenon that is typically only visible from a few specific places on the planet. In this case, the city of El Calafate will enjoy a partial view of the spectacle from 3:58 PM to 5:23 PM. However, the full view of the “Ring of Fire,” formed by the alignment of the celestial bodies, will be visible in other towns within the province of Santa Cruz, as well as in Chile and the Pacific Ocean.

Despite the partial view of the solar eclipse in El Calafate, the local government has organized a special event along the coast where locals and tourists can gather to witness the phenomenon. Attendees will be provided with safety glasses to protect their eyes.

These protective glasses were donated to the city by the National Technological University, Mendoza branch.
